This is Gandalf being thrown up into the air in a 'battle' with Saruman in Orthanc. Notice Saruman in the white on the bottom middle of the shot.

The light of Gandalf's staff temporarily holds the orcs at bay - right before the Balrog appears. They're surrounded by orcs, and are in a defensive huddle all facing outwards. From left to right: Gandalf, Boromir, Legolas, Gimli, Sam, Frodo, Pippin, Aragorn, Merry.

Aragorn appears to be drawing his sword from its scabbard as Frodo looks on. This is either at Amon Hen or at Weathertop before they make camp. Judging by the number of crash mats we saw at the set of Amon Hen, they do some battle scene there, so we know it departs from the book.

A continuation of the above scene. Ringer fan Gnosis suggests, "when Aragorn draws his sword in front of Frodo on Amon Hen, I think this is the crucial moment when Aragorn is recognizing his own lust for the ring (as hinted at by spies) and telling Frodo to 'Run!' has two meanings - leave the Fellowship and there are a hell of a lot of Orcs coming!" Sounds good to me!
