Rings Roundup (Top headlines of major interest)
---------------------------------------------------

Put those 3D rumors to rest, so says Guillermo del Toro
The interwebs have been astir with rumors and sources claiming that "The
Hobbit" is being planned as a 3D movie experience. An unscientific but fun
poll showed conclusively that almost 75 percent of TORn poll takers didn't
like the idea. Then, the same pot was stirred again with more "sources"
backing the original information and a flurry of e-mails landed in our inbox
(Spymaster at TheOneRing.net if you have a hot tip!) beating the same drum.

WETA's Smaug in Bronze.Amazing!
>From the folks at WETA: We first launched this range last month at the San
Diego Comic Con. At that time, we were only able to offer a Bronze option,
as we had a few unresolved issues to sort out. Fortunately these issues have
been resolved, so we are now able to offer these sculptures in both Bronze
and Faux Bronze. Click here to pre-order.

Exclusive Video of Sir Ian Confirming Hobbit Rumors
Ringer Karl Falconer, who attended the BFI IMAX LOTR All-night screening
managed to snag the following video of Sir Ian McKellen at last night's
event. The video is on Karl's Facebook page, so I'll need to login to see it
- but it's worth it! First off, Sir Ian revels he will be in New Zealand in
March to begin filming for approximately a year, with the first of two films
being released Christmas 2011.

McKellen says Bilbo is cast; 'Hobbit' script likely finished
We heard some rumors this week, that remain unverified, that the script for
"The Hobbit," has been delivered to the studio. The rumors indicate that the
first draft that Peter Jackson talked about at Comic-Con is in the process
of having a budget built from it. Is this true? Can you bank on it? We don't
know for sure, but we have a hunch this is the case.

EXCLUSIVE: More Pics from Hobbiton Rebuild
Gotta love the return of our Spies to the wonderful sets of Middle-earth!
Ringer Spy Periadoc Took sends in the following report from the Hobbiton set
in Matamata: I was in Matamata this weekend and went to Hobbiton, truth be
told I wasn't extremely surprised to see these upgrades but still a good
sign.

Peter Jackson speaks
The plan was to be impartial and emotionless in the printed word and provide
interested parties (hopefully you dear reader) all the facts and information
from Peter Jackson's un-press conference in San Diego as possible. After
all, he had 40 or so of us delighted to be trapped in a room with him in a
small but luxurious hotel a few hundred meters from the convention center
where the world's biggest celebration of popular culture was taking place.
It was the end of the first day of the four-day event and Jackson had
swooped into town, showed off his first ever public screening of "District
9," and then convened Geek Court.

The Tolkien Fan's Medieval Reader, edited by Turgon

Over the years Tolkien's fondness for and indebtedness to medieval
literature has often been mentioned. His special devotion to older Germanic
literature, including Beowulf and the Eddas, has long been known, for as a
professor he taught these works in addition to teaching the languages in
which they were written. This anthology has been compiled in the hope of
sharing the pleasures of these -- and other -- classics of medieval
literature that were part of Tolkien's professional life and inspirations to
him in his creative work.

Ongoing EXCLUSIVES from "Ringers: Lord of the Fans"

Ringers: Lord of the Fans is a feature-length documentary that reveals the
ongoing cultural phenomenon created by The Lord of the Rings. Very funny and
often moving, Ringers shows the hidden power behind Tolkien's books -- and
how after 50 years a single literary work continues to spark the minds and
hearts of millions.
