Hullo!! Take a look at the latest updates from TheOneRing.net and beyond!

*LOTRO: Rise of Isengard Announced!*

Rings Online™: Rise of Isengard™, the latest expansion to the
award-winning free-to-play massively multiplayer online roleplaying
game (MMORPG) developed by Turbine. Rise of Isengard will expand the
online world of Middle-earth where players will join forces to press
further eastward into the legendary region of Isengard. Rise of
Isengard will be available for purchase in the LOTRO Store in the Fall

*Howard Shore Going There… Back Again*
Ahead of next week’s performance of The Lord of the Rings Symphony in
Vancouver, Canada, the guys over at The Province snagged an interview
with Howard Shore and asked him about whether he’ll be returning to
Middle-earth to score the upcoming Hobbit films. And for fans of the
outstanding music Shore’s composed for The Lord of the Rings films,
his reply should serve to satiate sufficiently… at least until the
score itself finally debuts a couple years from now.

*The Lord of the Rings Meets Diablo*
Looking at 2011 and beyond, the action role-playing genre is very much
alive and well. Between Torchlight II, Dungeon Siege III, Darkspore,
and Diablo III — whenever it winds up being finished — there are a lot
of cool games on the way. One of the more promising is Snowblind’s
Lord of the Rings: War in the North. In case you’re not familiar, the
folks at Snowblind were responsible for the gleefully addicting
Baldur’s Gate: Dark Alliance. Based on what they’re saying about War
in the North, it sounds like they’re doing everything right.

is in this bunch)

*TheOneRing.net’s Tolkien Reading Room*
Did you ever want to ask a troublesome Tolkien question? Just who the
heck is Tom Bombadil, anyway? Does the Ring think for itself? Well,
you’ve come to the right place! TheOneRing.net’s Reading Room is
intended to be a forum for critical analysis and on-topic discussion
of Tolkien’s literary works. Reading Room features include ongoing
discussions of Tolkien-related books and topics, where volunteers lead
‘formal’ discussions, as well as posts of general interest you can
make at any time! So please feel welcome, don’t be shy (we don’t
bite!) and jump right in! The Reading Room is open to all.

*Hobbit Casting Call in Bay of Plenty Times*
An anonymous Ringer sends in this heads up about a Hobbit casting call
in Tauranga, New Zealand: "The Bay of Plenty Times (Tauranga’s
regional newspaper) had an ad in the weekend edition’s classifieds. It
was an official casting call for The Hobbit, asking for men under 5’7″
and women under 5’2″, for filming in Matamata in early 2011. They said
they will be in Tauranga on Wed 24th Nov between 2 and 4pm at the
Queen Elizabeth Youth Centre, cnr Devonport Rd and 11th Ave. Gutted
that I’m 5’9!"

*Hui to heal Hobbit wounds*
After the drama surrounding The Hobbit actors’ dispute, the film and
television industry is looking to talk through their problems at an
industry hui. The announcement was made at the Screen Production and
Development Association (SPADA) conference in Auckland. The Hobbit’s
New Zealand production was put in doubt after contract disputes
between actors’ unions and the film’s producers. SPADA board member
Richard Fletcher said communication was the key to healing the wounds
created by the conflict. “We can only move forward if we’re going to
talk.”
