ELF 2006: Sunday Images & Report
ELF 2006 Images TORN Staffer Garfeimao writes: Sunday at ELF began with the
Charity brunch with Billy Boyd. Over $5000 was raised for the Scottish Youth
Theater, and part of that came from an impromptu live auction of one of
Billy's shirts. This would not be the only impromptu auction Billy hosted
this day, but I'll get to the other one later. Billy wandered around
chatting with everyone at each table and was a gracious host, as usual.

ELF 2006: Saturday Report
TORN Staffer Garfeimao writes: Saturday had Sean Astin as the main guest,
replacing Elijah Wood as the headliner. It was announced that Elijah might
be able to do a webcam conference call sometime on Saturday, but the
technical bugs never quite worked out. So Sean did his appearance, handled
the autograph line like the champ he is, and then we were hit by another
missing guest.

Jackson's story to be told in biography
The story of how a boy from Pukerua Bay, north of Wellington, beat Hollywood
at its own game is to be told in an authorized biography of New Zealand
film-maker Peter Jackson. 'Peter Jackson: A Film-maker's Journey' will be
published by HarperCollins New Zealand on November 10, just in time for the
Christmas market. Following numerous approaches, Jackson chose to work on
the biography with Brian Sibley, a writer and the producer of the acclaimed
BBC radio dramatization of the Lord of the Rings. The biography, written
over several years, tells the story of Jackson's life through his own words,
as well as drawing on the memories of friends, family and associates.

to life in Russia. The uncommercial society "Tolkien Text Translation" has
produced an animated film based on Tolkien's illustrated book. The animation
was created from the original drawings by the Professor himself.

The Tolkien Fan's Medieval Reader, edited by Turgon

Over the years Tolkien's fondness for and indebtedness to medieval
literature has often been mentioned. His special devotion to older Germanic
literature, including Beowulf and the Eddas, has long been known, for as a
professor he taught these works in addition to teaching the languages in
which they were written. This anthology has been compiled in the hope of
sharing the pleasures of these -- and other -- classics of medieval
literature that were part of Tolkien's professional life and inspirations to
him in his creative work.
