Here is a prime example of how Gollum will be modeled in CGI (eventhough this is NOT Gollum, but is a Troll). This skeletal framework will have muscle and skin added as "layers" after the motion of the figure is programmed first.

On the chase with a Nazgûl closing in on the Hobbits. Many of these outdoor scenes were shot within Wellington.

The camera moves at a speed constant to the Black Riders. Horsemaster Harley Young works harder than anyone.

Here we have an example WETA’s fabulous prosetic technicians. This evil Orc was once just a Kiwi actor! Richard Taylor of Weta Workshop is in charge of creature design and, by the look of things, is doing a wonderful job!

The film’s stunt coordinators stage a sword fight rehearsal. The Stunt Coordinator and Swordmaster Bob Anderson have their work cut out for them! If you look closely we think this is Sean Astin (left) practicing his fighting skills.

This screaming Uruk-hai must be in some serious pain. Either that or he’s modeling for the WETA production team for future CGI manipulation.

Behold Elijah Wood in full Frodo costume. He shares his comments on the scope of Peter Jackson’s monumental effort.

A blind rush as our heroes are chased through the forest by the Enemy. In this scene you can see Gimli with a bright red beard, Legolas in the center, Boromir follow the crowd, and someone(Gandalf? Aragorn) carrying a hobbit in the front. It has also been suggested that this is probably showing where they are fleeing Moria after losing Gandalf to the Balrog.
