[ printable version]
To use the sounds in mIRC:
- Your system has to be set to accept sounds.
- You have to have the wav file.
- The file has to be in the sounds folder of mIRC.
- Setting your mIRC program to accept sounds
- Click on the General Options folder in the tool bar in mIRC.
- Scroll down to the Requests section under Sounds and click on it.
- Click the box that says accept sound requests
Now all you need are some sounds.
- Sound files
The sound files most used in Barliman's are available in the
downloads provided here
. You can make your own .wav files.
Where ever you get the sounds to use them they have to be in the
Sounds folder in mIRC
- Putting the sounds in the right place
After you download the file. unzip it into the sounds folder of
mIRC. If you have made your own sounds the files must be stored
in your Sounds folder in mIRC. For others to hear your sound
they must also have the file. You can send it to your friends direct or
submit it to PipeSmoke@theonering.net. The downloads will be updated
periodically as new sounds are received.
It is as simple as that. Of course to hear the sounds, your computer
speakers have to be connected on and all such nonsense. To play a sound in
the chatroom, type:
/sound 'file name'. wav
hit enter
Example: /sound boromirhorn.wav will cause you
to hear a horn being blown.
Have fun. Remember, though, other patrons may not have the same tastes as
you. Respect the other people. If you are asked to stop by an op please obey.
