Barliman Connection Instructions

Mac Instructions (Snak) [ printable version] Printable Version

Note: These directions are for Snak version 3.1
Suggestion: You may want to print these directions before getting Snak, this will allow you to close up all of your other pages & programs for a clean installation after you download.

  1. Downloading
  2. Installing
    • Find and open up your Snak file. (most likely it downloaded onto your desktop)
    • Double click on the icon to unstuff the file.
    • Open the "Snak 3.1" folder and double click the "Snak 3.1 PPC" icon. This will run the initial setup.
  3. Setting mIRC to our site
    • After the initial setup screen, a "Setup Assistant" will appear.
    • Follow the instructions.
  4. Connecting
    • Click on the "new" button in the "Connection" window. This opens the "New Connection" window.
    • Type in the following information.
    • Title: Barliman's
    • Nick: Your nickname.
    • Alt: Another nickname in case your first choice is taken.
    • Username: Your nickname
    • Password: If you have a password, type it in here.
    • Click the "add" button.
    • In the "New Server" window that appears, click the "New..." button.
    • Type in the following information:
    • Server: irc.theonering.net
    • Port: 6667
    • Change the other options to your preference.
    • Click Ok
    • Click OK in the "Choose Server" window
    • Click OK in the "New Connection" window.
    • In the "Connection" window, select the "Barliman's Chat Room" name.
    • Click the connect button in the bottom right hand corner.
    • Click on the message bar and type in this: /join #theonering.net.
    • Hit enter/return on your keyboard and you should be in!

Note: These directions are for Ircle 3.0.4
Suggestion: You may want to print these directions before getting Ircle, this will allow you to close up all of your other pages & programs for a clean installation after you download.

  1. Downloading
  2. Installing
    • Find and open up your Ircle file. (most likely it downloaded onto your desktop)
    • Double click on the icon to unstuff the file.
    • Open the "ircle 3.0.4 US" folder and double click the "ircle3.0.4 US" icon. It will ask you to register. If you don't want to register yet, hit the "not yet" button.
  3. Setting mIRC to our site
    • Locate the 'Connections" pallete and select the first row. Double click on that row.
    • At the top of the "Connection Preferences" window, click the "Select..." button next to "server."
    • Another window opens with a variety of servers to choose from. On the right side, click the "Add.." button.
    • Yet another window will show up with more options.
    • In the "Server Name:" field, type "www.theonering.net"
    • In the "Port:" field, type "6667"
    • Leave the "network" at its default.
    • Click 'OK'
    • Click 'Select'
    • Now, back in the 'Connection Preferences' window, the "Nickname:" field should be the name you would like to be known as in the chat.
    • In the "Username:" field, type the same name.
    • You can type in a password if you like, but it will not register with Barlimans.
    • In the "Real Name" field, you can type a welcome message or anything you want. If you would like to remain annonymous, DO NOT put your real name in this field.
    • Click 'OK'
  4. Connecting
    • Locate the 'Connections' Palette and select the first row.
    • Click the 'Connect' buttong located in the lower left corner of the 'Connections' Palette.
    • In the "InputLine" window, type "/join #theonering.net"
    • You are in!
