The Arena is the place where we get a chance to play out the battles that we've always been
curious about in our minds. We have all at some point wondered who win in a fight between Theoden
and Denethor, or between Merry and Pippin. The arena is your opportunity to come up with these
"battles," present them to the rest of us with whatever qualifications or restrictions you want to
add, and then watch (and participate in) the debate that results. You set a time limit on any
battle you come up with, and when that time limit expires you get to declare a winner. You can go
for traditional matches like Eomer vs. Faramir, or more esoteric ones like an Oompa-Loompa from
"Charlie and the Chocolate Factory" vs Fatty Bolger. Have fun with this, fight for your
favorites, come up with your own matches, and wait anxiously for December 19th 2001!! (In the US)
Board Adminstrator: Tintathar "Watcher of the Willows."
Here are the rules for this board.
- Subjects should be in the form of "_______ vs ________" so that all know the two opponents.
(ex: The Hulk vs Gimli)
- All "battles" should involve at least one Tolkien character.
- The creator of the post has the right to select the characters involved, describe when
in LOTR the characters come from (such as Bilbo from the Hobbit vs Bilbo From The Fellowship),
what weapons they can use, and where the "battle" is taking place.
- The creator needs to define a time limit on responses for the purpose of declaring a winner.
- All respondants must declare a winner at their end of their post. No draw.
- At the end of the time limit, the creator of the "battle" will tally the response and declare
a winner.
