The fact that a load of others were having a celebration at the same time was
NOT the reason the Early and Dark Age Christian Church chose to ‘place’ the
birth of Christ in December. The purpose of the Christian Church was to
enact a series of events that would see the total eradication of existing pagan
religions and celebrations on the basis of nothing more than “My God is better
than your gods”, or more accurately, “My imaginary friend is better than
yours!”
The fact that even within the Christian denominations, and other belief systems
that recognise Jesus as a prophet, there is disagreement about the date of his
birth is enough muddy water to put anyone with any amount of objectivity (as
opposed to blind faith) to question the facts of the faiths that hold Jesus in
such esteem. And then of course when one does even half significant
research into the Christian religion it is found to be full of holes and
inaccuracies.
But each to their own, eh?
Cheers
