Here's a tidbit I heard from my dad, who is a math professer. The
Borromean Rings are a mathematical concept that involves three rings,
interconnected so that if one is taken away, the other two become
unconnected. Though the spelling is different, Tolkien may have had this
theory in mind when he created the characted Boromier. Consider that when
Boromier died, the Fellowship was broken. I'd love to hear your thoughts
