Too high.

Mt Whitney is 14,500.  It is on a ferociously steep slope and the crest of a ridge of over 13,000 foot peaks.  Fangorn forest is on the lower alluvial slope of a much shorter range, and doesn't show evidence of moraines, aretes, and all that stuff.  I don't think the Misty Mountains had big glaciers on them, except maybe at the northern end.  Fangorn is at the southern end.  I think the 11,000 you quoted earlier is probably more reasonable.

Some who wander are lost.
