a difference in viewpoint/perspective here. I would contend that myth, in fact
the One True Myth, existed before the world was created (no matter how long ago
you set that creation), and that is because the storyteller Himself created not
only the earth but the entire known universe (well, I guess they postulate
unknown universes now too, but He created all of 'em).
The term "noble savage" was a highly romanticized concept that falsly suggested
that uncivilized cultures were pure and innocent, undefiled by the faults and
failings common in the civilized world: lies, sickness, sexual morés, etc.
That's not what I meant at all, and neither did I intend to suggest that that
people in these cultures were latent Christians, except in the broadest sense
that we all
are.
