I think that possibly the Sons of Feanor and other Noldor let people believe they were emissaries of the Valar. If people initially assumed it when they first arrived. Although some of the sons have been quite insulting so you'd think people may have figured it that they weren't. I think Thingol is just seeing the world as his realm against everyone else. Also I don't think what Melian had said really sunk in. I don't think he feels the Silmarils are that important, but he dosen't know about the curse. If he did, he probably would never ask Beren to go get one. ************************ Yes I know it's shameless But I love this show;) cough Farscape Marathon first 2 weeks of October Monday to Friday, 8am-3pm cough SET YOUR VCR's!!!
