I see these chapters as a turning point in the Sil. We've completed the
initial exposition, and now we're about to start the action-packed portions of
the book. We've met the Noldor, who are the major drivers of the
story. As Gandalf said, "The board is set. The pieces are moving."
Instead of recapping the past week's discussion the more traditional way, I
thought it would be fun to do in the form of a quiz. 4 points for each
correct answer, and 10 points for the extra credit. I would say closed
book, but I've reproduced both chapters during this discussion, so all the
answers are here in the Reading Room.
I'll post answers and scores later this week, being careful not to interfere
with next week's discussion. I hand the key over to Inferno, who will
introduce us to Tolkien's most dysfunctional family.

He stood still enchanted, while the sweet syllables of the elvish song fell like clear jewels of blended word and melody.
