Ceasar was ready to use his written history to gloyrify Rome's war and drum up
support by making the tribes of ancient Britain for the most part look like
savages (ignoring the fact Rome had been trading with Iron Age Britain before
either Roman invasions of the island). The problem of the written record,
especially one so old, is that no one can check, we know writers at the time
were hardly the model of objectivity (if such as thing exists) and would twists
the facts to gain support for whatever they were doing. In this case what they
were doing was the same thing the English did several thousand years later to
indigenous tribes across the world, yet no one now would accept they we should
take an 18th century anthropoligsts view of native American tribes as the
absolute truth, or even as a basis for describing those
cultures.
