I'm only asking out of interest in your thoughts; we all may have thoughts
about these issues, experts or not. :-) I love discussing these things with
other people who have read Tolkien.
I thought what you said was interesting, if I understood you correctly. I have
always wondered how come Tolkien bothered to put in the explanation about the
Valar being male and female etc. As though we needed an explanation of every
little metaphorical or lyrical statement he makes...I mean, why doesn't he just
describe them as male and female? We are already used to thinking about Greek
and Roman gods, for instance, as male and female.
Anyhow...
So, if I understood your post, perhaps our gender is not only innate to our
physical being, but to our spiritual self? And that, when our souls continue in
whatever manner souls continue on after our earthly visit is done, we will
still be male and female? Is that what you meant, by saying our gender was part
of our souls?
Just interested. No quiz. No grades.

Everybody's wonderin' what and where they all came from.
Everybody's worryin' 'bout where they're gonna go when the whole thing's
done.
But no one knows for certain and so it's all the same to me--
I think I'll just let the mystery be. --Iris DeMent
