practically a border guard for any nation. The Rangers of the North protect the Shire and Bree's borders, so they 'range' that area. The Rangers of Ithillien protect that area, bordering Mordor. The Northern Rangers are probably more 'rugged' Mad Max types while the Ithillien are the best of the Gondorian elite. I don't think Numenor bothered with 'Rangers'- their power was in the sea and force of open arms. It was only when evil was on their doorstep did they have borders to protect. There is but one task remaining in Arda-we,the Dragons of Valinor will make it happen. Lone resident of the Republic of Gondor PO-TA-TOE-S not PO -TAH-TOE-S!
