Since you have the Sil, look at the charts in the back. One shows the
different groupings of Elves, with a brief description of how they are
differentiated (went to Valinor or not, etc.). That's very helpful in
keeping track. Also, there are genealogies of the principal families of
Elves and Men. I found these charts absolutely essential in dealing with
this complex but wonderful book. What I did was Xerox & enlarge them and
put them in plastic protectors, so I could easily refer to them while
reading.
