Both the Men and the Elves are the Children of Iluvatar. Therefore, only
the elves that crossed the Sea are in Valinor, while some stayed in Middle
Earth (at least as of LOTR). All Men are doomed to die (save perhaps,
Tuor), and leave ME after a short stay in the Halls of Mandos. Where they
go, no one knows.
The dwarves and ents were created by the Vala Aule and Yavanna, and are
therefore not considered the Children of Iluvatar.
If you haven't read it, I would suggest reading the Silmarillion, and join in
the discussion on said book that will start in a few
weeks!

Then Morgoth hurled aloft Grond, the Hammer of the Underworld, and swung it down like a bolt of thunder. But Fingolfin sprang aside, and Grond rent a mighty pit in the earth, whence smoke and fire darted. Many times Morgoth essayed to smite him, and each time Fingolfin leaped away, as a lightning shoots from under a dark cloud; and he wounded Morgoth with seven wounds, and seven times Morgoth gave a cry of anguish, whereat th hosts of Angband fell upon their faces in dismay, and cries echoed in the Northlands.
