.....is that Elanor's sister Goldilocks married into the Took family and became
the wife of the Thain so the copy would have been made at the request of her
grandson. Presumably she would have heard the stories as a child too, and I
daresay Aunt Elanor read bits of the Red Book to the extended
family.
