after I could stop tearing over the very thought of it, I started to ponder the
fates of our hobbits of the fellowship.
I was so touched reading the appendixes that Merry (and Pippin) would be
so close to Eomer after all those year that he would leave his home to be with
him before he died. Then they travel to Gondor...And so the last two
hobbits of the fellowship that remain in Middle Earth are laid to rest by King
Aragorn far away from the home they fought to save, that they became leaders
of, raised families in.
it surprised my greatly that none of them would be at rest by their
spouses. the thought (wipes at tears, ok so I still tear up over it all!)
but I loved the romantic notion of the Fellowship somehow being the strongest
bond.
but it recently struck me that none of the four are laid to rest in the
Shire. Two in the world of elves and Valar, the other two in the world of
men.
Is there significance to this outside of bonds of fellowship? A sign of
the passing of hobbits as well as the
elves?
