He would have just needed to make a series of such catastrophes and elves would
have been destroyed.. If I remember correctly, he used things like that only
once (when he broke through siege). So it seems likely that he had mostly lost
his ability to do such thing. :)
And if he has a body that can be damaged with a sword, then it can be
destroyed. If that sword was infused with something, perhaps elves could infuse
it to a ballista or catapult ammo.. ;)
Btw, I doubt that destroying Morgoths body would require a nuke.. any modern
army would defeat Morgoth and his armies with ease.
