Text:
"So I did. And don’t be silly! You had better go to bed, your wits
are sleepy."
The hobbit felt quite crushed, and as there seemed nothing else
to do he did go to bed; and while the dwarves were still singing songs he
dropped asleep, still puzzling his little head about Beorn, till he dreamed a
dream of hundreds of black bears dancing slow heavy dances round and round in
the moonlight in the court-yard. Then he woke up when everyone else was asleep,
and he heard the same scraping, scuffling, snuffling and growling as before.
Q: Crushed: Why didn’t Gandalf answer Bilbo’s question?
Q: Bilbo’s Dreams: Is what Bilbo is dreaming really happening? Why does Bilbo
have these dreams of bears dancing? Is there any meaning to the dreams?
Q: Slow Heavy Dances: What do you think the bears are doing, assuming that it
is bears making the noises? What is their purpose for ‘slow heavy dancing’?
Q: Comments: Any further
comments?

Queer Lodgings Annotated Art: [Torania.com] "Mightier than Estë is Nienna, sister of the Fëanturi; she dwells alone. She is acquainted with grief, and mourns for every wound that Arda suffered in the marring of Melkor. So great was her sorrow, as the Music unfolded that her song turned to lamentation long before its end, and the sound of mourning was woven into the themes of the World before it began. But she does not weep for herself; and those who hearken to her learn pity, and endurance in hope. . . . All those who wait in Mandos cry to her, for she brings strength to the spirit and turns sorrow to wisdom." Valaquenta
