1-That's plain water. The image is made by Galadriel's power, not by any
property of the water itself. It could have easily been glass. Lothlorien has a
few rivers around and through it.
2-I would assume so.
3-They preserve the places and slow decay with time. In Lothlorien the trees
never die and seasons are so slow for outsiders. In Rivendell the land is
tranquil and peaceful, despite being surrounded by Trollshaws and wolf dens on
one side and the wastelands on the other. How they actually work as in
mechanism, nobody knows. Only Celebrimbor, his smiths and Sauron (who taught
them) know exactly how this was done- the knowledge comes from Aule the Smith
himself (though the Dwarves don't make magic rings!).
4- Celebrimbor made them at the height of his own skill and power, only without
Sauron's influence. All the other Rings were made with Sauron's influence and
his power was felt in the
Ring-making.
There is but one task remaining in Arda-we,the Dragons of Valinor will make it happen.
