FOTR: It was pity that that stayed Bilbo’s hand, many that live deserve death,
some that die deserve life, can you give it to them, Frodo? Be not to eager to
deal out death and judgement, even the very wise cannot see all ends. My heart
tells me that Gollum has some part to play yet for good or ill. . . .before
this is over. The pity of Bilbo may rule the fate of men. – so do all who
live to see such times [wish none of this had happened] but that is not for
them to decide. All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given
to us. There are other forces at work besides the will of evil. Bilbo was meant
to find the ring in which case you also were meant to have it and that is an
encouraging thought.
also: for fun
TTT: 1) this is Sting, you’ve scene it before, haven’t you . . . Gollum!
Release him or I’ll cut your throat. 2.) Spoil a nice fish! Give it to me raw
and wrrrriggling. Keep your nasty chips.
I love all the ones mentioned so far and all the ones that make me cry wheter
in sadness or in awe of the beauty of it.
I have so many my head is spinning and I must get back to preparing my
discussion on Durin's Folk in 10 days.
Happy New Year to
all!

Mightier than Estë is Nienna, sister of Fëanturi; she dwells alone. She is acquainted with grief, and mourns for every wound that Arda suffered in the marring of Melkor. So great was her sorrow, as the Music unfolded that her song turned to lamentation long before its end, and the sound of mourning was woven into the themes of the World before it began. But she does not weep for herself; and those who hearken to her learn pity, and endurance in hope. . . . All those who wait in Mandos cry to her, for she brings strength to the spirit and turns sorrow to wisdom.
