Subject:
the symbolism of the Argonath
Message:

That guy on the right is Elendil in the movie, while in the book the king there is Anarion (although interestingly, only his son became king after last alliance, not him).

It was built by king Romendacil I (I think) to warn off the Easterlings and bad Northmen not to enter mighty Gondor. Isildur's lands, goverened by Minas Ithil were on the east bank of Anduin, while on the right was Anarion, whose lands were governed by Minas Anor (later Tirith). Osgiliath, of course was straight on.

The movie isn;t that wrong- Elendil's realm of Arnor is still westward of the Argonath.

There is but one task remaining in Arda-we,the Dragons of Valinor will make it happen.

Lone resident of the Republic of Gondor
