RotK Premiere and the message board system.
Message:

This is a slightly different message than that which I've posted on Main and Movie. Still, there are things you should know. =)

Past experience has shown us that the day of the Premiere and the few following are chaotic on the boards. There will be a lot of posts along the lines of 'OMG!!!!!!', 'I JUST SAW IT!!!!!!!!', and 'I KNOW!!!!!!' - generally without any text in them. There is really nothing we can do to stop this barrage. We just have to weather the storm.

The RPGboard software is the single largest load on the tOR.N server. It is very likely that there will be times that the board software will crash this week, as the newbies come out of the woodwork and inundate the boards. When this happens, you'll be getting timeout messages. The single biggest thing you can do to keep things running smoothly is, when you get a timeout message, *don't* immediately try to reload the page. Wait 10 minutes or so. This will give the server time to recover. Repeated reload requests only cause it to bog down even more.

One other piece of friendly advice: if you're planning on writing that thought-provoking post for the current discussion topic in here, write it in a word-processor first, then copy/paste it into the boards. If you get a timeout error while posting your message, it will vanish into the ether, never to be heard from again. Saves you some anguish if you have it typed elsewhere.

Inferno.
