does saruman actually die? I have a $50 bet with a friend regarding this. I believe he dies. In the appendix to RotK it says of "saruman's passing", which might be construed as slightyl ambiguous. But the scene itself seems pretty clear to me.

also, what does this mean for an istari- death in arda. To their spirits go to the Halls of Mandos? Or do they just go back to living as they did in Valinor before they came over the seas?

Also, does the fact that a Maiar went bad alter his after-life/future-life/life beyond middle earth at all? Or do they all just go and chill out like the rest of the dudes?
