...gone wrong at all. I DO believe that Tolkien would have hated/ignored
deconstruction, and poo-pooed it as applied to his own works. Yet I think
it's the mark that his work is multifaceted and well wrought that we can apply
it. As with any critical reading, I don't think that the author has to be
amenable (or even aware) for it to
work....
