may very well have used a mix of Sindarin and Westron, since they knew both.  But they were two distinct languages, not a hybrid.

Quenya was a language of scholars, even among the elves of Middle-earth.  Quenya and Sindarin were roughly equivalent to Greek and Latin, respectively, during the Middle Ages or in the pre-Vatican II Roman Catholic Church.

Westron came from Adunaic, the language of the Numenoreans, which had roots in the language of the Edain in Beleriand, but was distinct from the Sindarin spoken in the Kingdom of Doriath.  But Adunaic was also a language of scholars in the Third Age.

“I dislike Allegory - the conscious and intentional allegory - yet any attempt to explain the purport of myth or fairytale must use allegorical language.  (And, of course, the more 'life' a story has the more readily will it be susceptible of allegorical interpretations: while the better a deliberate allegory is made the more nearly will it be acceptable just as a story.)” (From Tolkien Letter # 131.)
