Thermodynamics of Divine Intervention
Message:

"Even the very wise cannot see all ends"

The problem I have with lots of divine intervention is that it inevitably ends up as micromanagement.  I prefer to have  my divinities do the _absolute minimum_  of intervention, for the simple reason that the whole world would probably explode in a poof of improbablity with too much intervention.  Each divine intervention injects energy into the system, and as we know, E=MC^2.  When the Divinity NOS either dumps energy into the system, or moves a mass trying to tweak it, it destabilizes the universe.  This is why nasty unforseen circumstances ensue, based on the principle 'no good deed goes unpunished'.  The injected energy or mass has to go somewhere, there isnt a mechanism to suck the energy back out.
The best way to intervene is as late as possible, with as little force(force =mass * acceleration) as possible.

So no, they aren't clowns, but they are trying to avoid being pointy-haired bosses.

No good deed goes unpunished.

Some who wander are lost.
