when it came up the other day I re-read the relevant passage, and have a question. Appendix A says: "But to the children of Elrond a choice was also appointed: to pass with him from the circles of the world; or if they remained to become mortal and die in Middle Earth." Does this mean that Elladan and Elrohir became mortal by not sailing with Elrond? They're not listed among those in that group, unless they were unnamed among the "Elves of High Kindred" accompanying Elrond and Galadriel.
