What the heck is the Council of Gondor doing about now?  And who are these guys?  I assume they were handpicked by Denethor.  If there's any chance of organized resistence to Aragorn's claim I'd bet this is where it would originate.  Perhaps Aragorn calling the Council of Captains is also supposed to be a political signal to these bozos.  ("Go ahead and try something.  I've got the military in my pocket.")  And perhaps Legolas and Gimli are not innocently visiting Minas Tirith just to visit old friends.  Perhaps they are there to check out the mood of the city, get a sense of what's going on, and see if Denethor's buddies are burning the midnight oil in the council chambers of Gondor.  Of course, since Denethor was so paranoid, maybe the Council of Gondor is just a bunch of rubber-stamping yes-men who'll follow anything that moves.
