Okay...

1)  Is Dol Amroth truly the descendent of Elvish ancesters? If so, how come Beren and Luthien have stolen all the thunder? (UUTs, anyone?) If not, is Dol Amroth's Elvishness a reflection of his nature?

1)   I think that Prince Imrahil has elven blood in him.  Remember that it used to be an elven harbor, mostly for the Silvan elves of Lorien.  It is quite plausible that many of the Silvan elves wedded men back in the day, especially in the royal families.  I think that the reason Beren and Luthien have 'stolen all the thunder' is because Luthien was one of the Eldar, and the fairest of all elves.  Also, the story of Beren and Luthien is an important backstory for The Lord of the Rings.
It is quite apparent that Prince Imrahil's Elvish blood makes him seem more understanding and wise.  His blood certainly gives him better perception than other men--("Have you no leeches among you?  She is hurt to the death, maybe, but I deem that she still lives")

2) Is there any real threat of civil war in Gondor? How do Aragorn's cautious tactics compare to (one of) the overall themes of "Power corrupts" in "Lord of the Rings"?

2)  I think that no matter what had happened, Aragorn would do his best to assume the role of King without diminishing the honor of Denethor, as he did with Faramir.  Perhaps, had Denethor met Aragorn, he would understand that it was his place to step down as the leader of Gondor.  However, if had indeed learned of Aragorn's role in the rule of his father, then I think that Denethor would perhaps become jealous, and work against the King, but not to the extent of civil war.  If any political strife was to occur, it would be of Denethor's making.

Sorry to keep rambling on like this, I just liked this topic :)
