not only explicitly as when Gandalf speaks of the forces other than those of
evil, but in more subtle ways. Just last night, Merryk and I were in a disussion on the movie board and I stumbled onto on
place where Tolkien leads us to faith without ever mentioning a God. He seems
to take us there with Sam through stories and nature. I don't have time to
gather it all together just now, but if you follow that discussion, you may get
there too. Thanks to Merryk for helping me write my way into it. Just another
example of how wonderful these discussions are for
