Much of LOTR points to an unnamed power

not only explicitly as when Gandalf speaks of the forces other than those of evil, but in more subtle ways. Just last night, Merryk and I were in a disussion on the movie board and I stumbled onto on place where Tolkien leads us to faith without ever mentioning a God. He seems to take us there with Sam through stories and nature. I don't have time to gather it all together just now, but if you follow that discussion, you may get there too. Thanks to Merryk for helping me write my way into it. Just another example of how wonderful these discussions are for me!
