to seriously compare Biblical references or people to the characters in the
book but the correlations/similarities are there. I know it's been said that
Tolkien tried to avoid any references to Catholicism and I don't think he did
implement them in the book puposely but the idealism of faith is there. It's
the quintessential good vs. evil
book!
