were originally horses belonging to Orome and his hunters, who included
Celegorm the Hunter. Meadhros, in giving up the Kingship of the Noldor also
gave Fingolfin these horses, which were born in Valinor (like Nahar) and were
more special. Fingolfin passed the kingship to Fingon, who was served by Hador
and his kindred.
The Rohirrim are believed to be descendants of Hadorian folk who fled east when
Beleriand was sunk. Hence, the Mearas were originally taken east by Hadorian
folk, who dwelt in the Vales of Anduin and were later allied to Isildur.
The Mearas seed seems to be like Aragorn's Numenorean ancestry- few 100% pure
lines, and many derivants. The horses of Anduin (those of the Rohirrim) are
probably the derivants of a Valinorean-born horse in the 1st Age. Those same
horses served Rhovannion and won praise in Gondor.
Shadowfax's line must have been kept put somehow by the Horse-Lords, who by
keeping his Riders strictly of Eorl's descendants also maintained the Mearas
line. Perhaps this was Felarof's thinking in serving
Eorl.
There is but one task remaining in Arda-we,the Dragons of Valinor will make it happen.
