Good song parody!
As for Grond's spells, perhaps there is some of Morgoth's power wrought into
it, or amplified through it. All things in Middle-earth carry the taint
of Morgoth (his "ring" as Tolkien later called it), but we have speculated in
here that the remnants of Morgoth's power can be collected and intensified in
certain geographical areas such as Orodruin. Thus the One Ring is so
fearsome because it contains some of Morgoth's undiluted power in it. The
smithies of Mordor may have used fire from the same deep source to make this
giant battering ram that ordinary fire can't touch. This is an UUT, but I
sense that naming it for Morgoth's hammer might suggest that it derives some of
its might from that dark source! It taps into more of the taint of Arda
than a normal siege weapon would in any
case.

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate;
And though I oft have passed them by,
A day will come at last when I
Shall take the hidden paths that run
West of the Moon, East of the Sun.
