Boom, boom

I always loved the repeated lines, "Grond crawled on."  It's a neat image.  Tolkien might have been thinking about tanks from World War I, which tended to be large and slow, but very scary to the infantrymen in the trenches, watching them approach.

Grond has magical spells on it, but it's hard to say if they work or not.  We don't really know if Sauron laid some special curse on it, or if it's just been scrawled on by orcs.  Certainly seems like the Witch King is adding some oomph to the mix, though.

Presumably it's named after Morgoth's mace because it's the current large blunt weapon of the current Dark Lord.  Sort of naturally suggests itself.

I love a good parody, but I'm afraid I can't get the full effect of yours since I have always avoided letting anything Jacksonian into my ears!  So I don't know the original tune or lyrics (and don't really want to!).  Sorry about that--I'm sure your version is better than the original!
