that the biggest danger is to rely on them. The Mirror of Galadriel
exemplifies the danger: "[T]he Mirror shows many things, and not all have yet
come to pass. Some never come to be, unless those that behold the visions
turn aside from their path to prevent them. The Mirror is dangerous as a
guide of deeds." Galadriel mentions one danger -- turning out of your
path to prevent a prophecy from becoming true. The other danger is to
take a certain path because the prophecy, if it's to prove true, implies one
should go in that way.
In reality, one must do what conscience and duty dictate;
and leave the prophecies to look after
themselves.
