Tolkien says the Woses had little use for writing, and used only crude signs
for directions.
If the Pukel Men were anything like Aghan's voodoo doll in the 'Faithful
Stone', then whomever moved into the White Mountains must have been pretty
strong to drive off the Druedain into the Forest.
The Dwarves do indeed hate the Sea, but so did the early Edain, all until Tuor
and Earendil. Perhaps Gimli decided to go on his last adventure with Legolas
,seeing as he was old, much like Bilbo leaving with Frodo- neither Hobbits or
Dwarves like the Sea much. I didn't see Gimli complaining about the Anduin boat
ride, though. Yet going to Valinor is still a journey, but the Paths of the
Dead is an experience...a frightening
experience.
There is but one task remaining in Arda-we,the Dragons of Valinor will make it happen.
