to go on alone: from Lorien to Parth Galen.  Sam has practically no time, and he has not only to come to terms with the terrible burden of the quest, he has to do it in the fresh, excruciating grief of losing his beloved Master.  He has a lot to work through, in both heart and head.

I totally agree with amrun's response to #1, and am perfectly willing to give Sam a few more minutes to pull himself together.
