If the special stallion is out with a herd, the quality of mare isn't
necessarily controlled so not all individuals would necessarily have been
stellar. I'm sure the ones from both fantastic stallion and wonderful
mare were treasured even in ME. :) I'll bet Tolkien recognized and
appreciated quality of the top calvary horses that were so abundant in WWI.
Oh, and Notlost, good luck with the new stallion!! My filly got a better
neck than her TB mom but just not quite the long, beautiful neck of her
Trakehner sire. :) She's also built much like her daddy and actually
looks more like her pasture friend "aunt" than her
mom.
