1. I really do think that the ring magnifies aspects of the wearer (and
like others have noted, ultimately folks who bear it will become wraiths,
right?), yet I think it's more than weighing Frodo down here; it's actually
gotten into his psyche (much as it has become a part of Gollum's), and it's
controlling mind, muscle, emotions, etc. So I think at this point (and,
as you note, earlier in Emyn Muil) Frodo is feeling more than the physical
weight of the ring.
2. I agree with everyone below, but I wonder about one more thing:
Gollum is in the middle of carrying out his plan to let "her" take care of
things. While I agree that Gollum's greatest fear is that Sauron will get the
ring, I do believe it's in his nature to...well, get excited (for lack of
better way to put it) about the impending situation. He's afraid his plan
will be spoiled, but I can't help think that there's something pleasurable
about the upcoming planned events (esp. where Sam is
concerned).
