so far off from what Tolkien might have seen in the trenches. Or what we have seen at times on CNN. A soldier is there to kill or be killed, with his only other duty being to protect his mates. The game lets the dwarf and elf fulfill their obligations to the fight and to each other at the same time.

There is also the nature of orcs to consider. Reverend often refers to the knots into which Tolkien tied himself to make the orcs ultimately redeemable. But in truth, a fairy story like this one needs goblins who are completely evil, dangerous and worthy of destruction. Human enemies may be morally ambiguous, but orc necks are for hewing.
