"Gandalf deflects several questions from the party about what is going on with
Saruman. Why is he being secretive about events in Isengard?"
Partly it's the same old Gandalf, rarely giving a straight
answer. And I really think he's teasing everyone, looking forward to the
looks on their faces when they see what's happened to Isengard. Inside,
he's giggling madly.
"Why do you think Legolas and Gimli had a contest to see who could kill the
most Orcs during the battle? Did their attitudes about the contest change
as it went on? What effect did it have on them?"
Well, we all have our hobbies...
"What does Gimli's description of the Glittering Caves reveal about him?
About the different ways in which Men and Dwarves approach the natural world?"
He's got music in his soul! It's about time we found his
soft spot, and it's really no surprise that it's the music of stone. To
me, this was very consistent with the wonderful architecture of Khazad-dum and
Erebor. I never thought of dwarves as being free of artistry, just not as
being so graceful and FULL of artistry as elves
are.
