and know of no flower by that name. Most of the plants in Tolkien's works are not fictional. I did a search but came up with nothing; however, the Star of Bethlehem could be to what he is referring. Often planted on graves and in graveyards. The flowers in the PJ's  film looked like these to me also. See Link to pic here: Star of Bethlehem

Latin name: Ornithogalum umbellatum blooms in spring/ I have them in my garden.

I am also reminded of a poem by Whittier
