Even in Gondor, the Houses of Healing are staffed by herbmasters and women with
knowledge of medicinal herbs, and they keep a store of "herbs of healing."
I just read this today, and noticed for the first time that Aragorn says,
"Would that Elrond were here, for he is the eldest of all our race, and has the
greater power." He says "of our race," not "of the Elves." Very suggestive of
where Aragorn's power of healing comes from. Sorry, it doesn't say anything
about herbs, but we already know he's a
loremaster.
