Subject:
The relationship between Gandalf and Aragorn
Message:

Hello. This is my first ever post on this particular forum, and I appreciate that this question has probably been asked before, but nonetheless I haven't heard the answer. ;)

Although I haven't read any of the LOTR books for a while, I'm quite sure that Aragorn and Gandalf have a back-history, maybe from the Hobbit? I would like to know when and where they first met, and what was the purpose of their meeting.

In the films, I have always perceived Aragorn to have the utmost respect for Gandalf, and not only because of the 'wizardry' he possesess.

If at all possible, can anyone give me a brief explanation?

Thanks in advance.
