you're doing better than i am...
Message:

congratulations, btw!  I started reading the Sil a few days ago and have slogged my way thru about 5 chapters.  does it get better?  i've heard the start is rough, but the narrative improves.  when is that, really?

it's a complex and highly aspirational storyline...a full creation mythology crammed into 200 pages or something...so, we live with a shotgun narrative sprinkled with so many place and people names it's like the Elven High yearbook.  This is Feanor, voted Best Competitor, he was a member of the industrial arts club and president of the Art Society.  Next, Galadriel, varsity cheerleader, Homecoming Queen and member of FHA.  that x1000, ugh.

it is interesting, though.  if you get a bit tired of one plot line, two pages later you're onto something completely different.  i guess you can say there's something here for everyone.
